Our surgeons have received an extensive amount of training and possess years of experience. Each one is highly qualified to administer all forms of anesthesia. While all procedures will be performed with some form of anesthesia, the type of anesthesia you’ll receive depends on the complexity of your procedure as well as your personal preferences. Types of Anesthesia
We offer several forms of anesthesia to ensure your comfort.
Local Anesthesia
Local anesthesia is applied directly to the surgical site to provide pain relief during the procedure. With this anesthesia, you will remain fully conscious.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide—also known as laughing gas—creates a calm and relaxed state that offers pain relief while you are conscious.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation
Through an intravenous (IV) line, our surgeons can induce a semi-conscious state, sometimes referred to as twilight sedation. Although you are semi-conscious, you will feel no pain and will likely wake up with no memory of the procedure.
General Anesthesia
General anesthesia is typically used for extensive procedures in surgery centers or hospitals. This type of anesthesia induces a state of complete unconsciousness.

Sometimes referred to as sleep dentistry, sedation dentistry is an excellent option for patients dealing with intense anxiety or fear when undergoing any dental care. Because there are different levels of sedation, your procedure, its complexity, and your anxiety levels will help your care team decide what type of sedation to administer.

Sedation dentistry is an option for any of our patients whether they are children or adults. It’s ideal for patients who have postponed dental care due to fears surrounding the dentist, have had traumatic dental care in the past, require long, complicated procedures, have a strong gag reflex, or experience sensitivity and restlessness.
