Meet Alan Hecht, DDS

Dr. Alan Hecht approaches his work with kindness and passion, delivering patient-centered care that prioritizes comfort.

About Dr. Hecht

Growing up, Dr. Hecht’s father was a builder. Despite not being in the dental industry, his father suggested that—because Dr. Hecht was good with his hands—he should consider dentistry. In school, he discovered his passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery and hasn’t looked back. Dr. Hecht enjoys performing an array of oral surgery procedures, which is why he searched for a practice that offered a full scope of services so that he could use his expertise and experience to offer every patient a solution to any oral or maxillofacial issue they experience. He found that at Somerset Oral Surgery, where he has practiced since 1998.

While he takes pride in his work, he finds that the most rewarding part of his job is easing patient pain and restoring function. Dr. Hecht approaches his work with the understanding that most people dislike the dentist and find it to be intimidating or a source of anxiety. To combat these fears, he adds warmth and humor into his consultations to put patients at ease.

Dr. Hecht received a bachelor’s degree in economics after graduating from Franklin & Marshall College 1988. Following graduation, he attended the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine to pursue his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. He was a resident from July 1994 to June 1997 before being promoted to Chief Resident of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from July 1997 until 1998, when he completed his residency.
