Tyler Jacobs, DDS, MD

A native of Marlboro, New Jersey, Dr. Tyler Jacobs is a highly trained, dual-degree Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon dedicated to delivering advanced surgical care with a focus on precision, innovation, and exceptional patient outcomes. Dr. Jacobs believes that the highest level of surgical expertise should always be matched by a compassionate, patient-centered approach. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that every patient deserves a
comfortable experience and a result that looks and feels natural, ensuring they can return to their daily lives with confidence.

Education & Residency

Dr. Jacobs began his academic journey at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he graduated in the top 5 of his class. He then completed a rigorous six-year dual-degree Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, concurrently earning his Medical Degree (MD) from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. In recognition of his academic excellence and leadership, he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society.

Clinical Expertise

Dr. Jacobs specializes in a broad range of complex surgical procedures, with a particular focus on advanced dental implantology and reconstructive surgery. His clinical expertise includes:

  • Advanced Implantology: Immediate implant placement with temporization, as well as remote anchorage techniques such as zygomatic, transnasal, and pterygoid implants.
  • Reconstructive Surgery: Advanced bone grafting techniques, including use of custom titanium meshes. Dr. Jacobs helped introduce custom titanium mesh technology at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, expanding reconstructive capabilities for complex cases.
  • Full Arch Rehabilitation: Highly experienced in full-arch, immediate-load implant cases utilizing a fully digital workflow to enhance precision and efficiency. He performed the first such cases at Rutgers, reflecting his early adoption of next-generation technology. Dr. Jacobs also an expert in placing custom subperiosteal implants. He performed the first custom subperiosteal implant case in Bangladesh, bringing advanced surgical care to an underserved population.
  • Complex Extractions: Skilled in third molar (wisdom tooth) and impacted teeth extractions
  • Nerve Repair: Skilled in the diagnosis and management of inferior alveolar and lingual nerve injuries.
  • Comprehensive Scope: His practice further includes orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, facial implants, miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE),
    periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO), TMJ surgery, and complex extractions.

Research and Innovation

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Jacobs is an active contributor to the advancement of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with research spanning trigeminal nerve repair, mandibular fracture management, and the role of artificial intelligence in patient education.

Personal Life

Outside of surgery, Dr. Jacobs enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle and values time spent with his wife and their dog, Brady. He is also a passionate Boston sports fan despite living in the heart of New Jersey and enjoys following his favorite teams year-round.
